Uniting Communities

Cheryl's current role at Uniting Communities oversees a diverse range of services across South Australia that focus on therapeutic and family-inclusive practice. Having worked in youth homelessness for 20 years, she has witnessed firsthand the trend to supporting younger and younger people into "independence" from a risk averse framework.

Suraya leads the Ruby’s Reunification Program in the inner northern suburbs of Adelaide. She works with a group of Therapeutic Youth Workers and a Family Counsellor to prevent youth homelessness and support family reunification within this 24/7 service. With a background of supporting young people at risk, Suraya is passionate about the importance of strong family and network connections within the life of a young person.
